2021 Paintings

This year I have been working outdoors more than usual; setting up still life scenes in my courtyard to capture the unique Australian sunlight and punchy shadows, or taking my easel and watercolours with me on local bush walks.

The watercolours from the bush are used as a starting point for larger works in oils created back in the studio. These paintings undergo several incarnations and layers, and are reworked until I’m satisfied. My intention is to capture the raw energy and spirit of the outdoor sketches into a painting
