This year has been a very indoors year, so I have turned my attention to studying and painting the objects found around my home. I’m particularly grateful for the bright Australian sunlight streaming through my studio window. It is a very different light to the UK where I grew up, and casts beautiful bold shadows.

These contemporary still life paintings sit somewhere in between representation and abstraction and have a strong focus on composition and colour. I am exploring both painterly and linear techniques with the intention of capturing the raw energy and spirit of a drawing in paint.
